Wolves vs Leicester City 3-0: Wolves beat the Foxes at Molineux

Wolverhampton Wanderers continued their superb Premier League run with an easy 3-0 victory over relegated Leicester City at Molineux. Vítor Pereira’s side recorded a sixth consecutive top-flight victory for the first time in over half a century, while Leicester continued their disappointing season with a tenth defeat in 11 games.

First Half – Persistent Pressure Pays Off

Coming into the game on a strong note, Wolves started brightly, with Matheus Cunha and André both testing Leicester’s Mads Hermansen early on. After a series of half-chances, victory finally came when Cunha, taking advantage of a pass from Rayan Aït-Nouri, perfectly directed his shot into the far corner, giving Wolves the lead.

The home side almost doubled their lead before the break, courtesy of Cunha’s cross into the box, but Jørgen Strand Larsen was unable to cash in from close range. Despite Ruud van Nistelrooy being replaced three times at the break, Leicester struggled to regain control of the game, with Wolves heading into the break with a commanding lead.

Second half – Wolves tighten the screws

Wolves regained the upper hand after the restart, continuing to dominate the game. Cunha saw another shot saved and Strand Larsen missed a wonderful rebound opportunity, but their duo would soon combine to devastating effect. A quick counterattack culminated in Cunha passing to Strand Larsen, who kept his cool to beat Hermansen and double Wolves’ lead.

Leicester saw a glimmer of hope when Jamie Vardy, in his final season at the club, was awarded a penalty. However, the veteran striker was denied by José Sá, who dived to make a superb save and keep Wolves clean. The final blow came late on when Rodrigo Gomes slotted home after a pass from Cunha, capping off a dominant afternoon for Wolves.

What this means

The resounding victory propelled Wolves to 13th place in the Premier League table, completing an incredible turnaround under Pereira, with 25 points from their last 11 games. Meanwhile, Leicester’s nightmare season continued, with the Foxes remaining bottom of the table and already condemned to play in the Championship next season.
